Consumer hearing-health research and education

The HearingAids.md Editorial Team researches and develops plain-language guides about hearing loss, hearing tests, hearing aids, over-the-counter and prescription options, costs, insurance, brands, product features, and everyday hearing-aid use. The team’s work is based on authoritative public-health and regulatory sources, peer-reviewed research, professional guidance, official product documentation, and direct reporting where appropriate. Editorial-team articles follow our Editorial Policy and receive qualified medical review when the subject requires it.

Medical reviewers

Articles that have completed medical review display the reviewer’s name, relevant credentials, and review date directly on the article. We publish a reviewer profile only after verifying the person’s identity, qualifications, professional scope, and relevant disclosures. Medical reviewers assess clinical accuracy, balance, limitations, safety language, and whether the article appropriately distinguishes education and screening from diagnosis and treatment. They do not approve advertising or determine product rankings.

Contributors and expert voices

From time to time, HearingAids.md may feature interviews, quotations, lived experience, surveys, or contributions from audiologists, physicians, hearing instrument specialists, researchers, caregivers, and hearing-aid users. We identify the source of the perspective and explain relevant qualifications or context. A personal experience can make an article more useful, but it does not prove that the same outcome will apply to everyone and does not replace medical evidence.

How bylines work

Each article uses the most specific accurate byline available. “Written by” identifies the named author who researched and drafted the article. “By the HearingAids.md Editorial Team” identifies collaborative or substantially maintained work. “Medically reviewed by” identifies a qualified professional who reviewed publication-ready clinical content. “Fact-checked by” identifies a person who verified key factual statements and sources without performing medical review. “Updated by” identifies the person or team who made a meaningful update and verified the revised material.

Contributor standards

People who create or review HearingAids.md content are expected to work within their knowledge and professional scope, use credible current sources, separate evidence from opinion and personal experience, describe uncertainty and limitations honestly, avoid guaranteed outcomes and unsupported claims, disclose relevant relationships, and correct material errors when identified.

Conflicts of interest

A contributor should disclose any relationship that a reasonable reader might consider relevant, including employment, consulting, speaking fees, research funding, free products, affiliate arrangements, investments, or referral relationships. When a conflict could affect editorial independence, we may add a disclosure, assign another reviewer, narrow the contributor’s role, or choose someone else.
